Litquake 2008 and ODC Theater present

Off Leash - Who's a good girl?

ODC Theater brings the page to the stage in their 3rd festival of the year OFF BOOK - Stories That Move - which is also their first ever collaboration with Litquake, San Francisco's Literary Festival.

Off Leash is a brand new, creative fiction performance piece that explores the behavioral contortions and spectacle required if indeed we are going to, in the immortal words of Dr Dolittle, Walk and talk with the animals. Especially the hound.

Off Leash ponders the question "Who's a good girl?" in a world where model behavior is defined by being able to sit still while being fondled by strangers.

Shot through with flat irony and sometimes satire, Off Leash combines elements of literary short fiction, theater, dance, and satirical humor to form a multi-dimensional narrative where the wires carrying the required currents of mutual trust, love and affection inevitably cross, producing sometimes giddy, and sometimes darkly poetic short circuits.

If you're the kind of person who loves animals, is fascinated by dogs, puzzled and sometimes troubled by how we collectively use or treat them, and in general mull the canine-human continuum, then Off Leash is for you.

If you're the kind of person who sometimes feels that the absurd is closing in, and the world is a place that demands a certain amount of irony and satire to just. keep. going. Then Off Leash is for you.

Off Leash is written and performed by JoAnn Selisker, and directed and choreographed by Chris Black of Potrzebie.
